A Special Edition Chrome Series Wireless Controller is coming to the Xbox 360 Tuesday May 15, 2012. Actually it's 3 different colors, blue, silver and red. Each is offered at a different retailer, blue is offered at GameStop, silver is at Best Buy, and Walmart has the red controller. They will retail for around $54.99
In addition to the beautiful look they feature the "transforming d-pad". The "transforming d-pad" is described as a d-pad that goes from a disc to a plus. What this means is that it can change from the traditional disc type d-pad to a more accurate "plus" type d-pad that gives more precise directional control, the change happens with a simple twist. Here's a video of Major Nelson showing how this works on the first controller to have the "transforming d-pad".
I've never used one before, but it sounds like a good solution to the sometimes mushy d-pad that doesn't always give you the results you want.
Like I said, the controllers are available at certain select retailers only.
